We had a great time in Galveston this past week! We arrived on Tuesday and our friends Josh and Lauren came over for a boiled shrimp dinner! They are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Baby Girl Shenkir due in early August.
We have stayed at the same beach house (on Jamaica Beach) for the past three years. The beach is within walking distance, which is completely convenient....especially with two little ones!! Emma loved the waves this year and Owen mostly enjoyed exploring the sand. Fortunately the beach was clean and free of oil. The town of Galveston was rather desolate, especially with the local schools still in session. The weather was perfect....in the high 80's with a constant breeze!
I had packed coordiating outfit options and planned to take some cute beach photos of the kiddos together. Too bad Emma wasn't in the mood during the first attempt....and Owen wasn't in the mood during the second attempt. Ugh! Maybe next year! Here is what was captured anyway...
On Wednesday just the four of us went to the strand. We ate at our favorite seafood restaurant, Fisherman's Wharf. We sat on the deck and had a great view of the harbour. We watched the boats and dolphins. A seagull actually swooped down and grabbed a french fry from Emma's plate while she wasn't looking :) Texas Monthly hails FW as the premiere restaurant of the Texas Gulf Coast! I highly recommend it next time you are in G-town:) My favorites are crab cakes and lobser tail, but you can't go wrong with anything you order! We also shopped a little and I was disappointed to find that the taffy shop was closed for the day.
On Thursday morning Jarrod and I took Emma to Schlitterbahn. There are three different kiddy sections so we were sure she would love it. We made a few laps around on the lazy river and then she started acting overly grumpy. After just two hours we left. Shortly after she developed a common fever and took an extended nap. Poor thing :(
My brother (Joseph) loves to fish. All of the guys went crabbing with no luck! My brother caught a few good fish.
