District Champions!

In case you haven't heard....the Yoemen are DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!!!  This was officially determined after last week's game against Florence.  This is an off week and next week's game against Troy (yes, Coach Smith's alma mater) wraps up the regular season.  Playoffs start mid Nov and we are looking forward to great things :)  We aren't sure where the playoff game(s) will be yet but would LOVE for you all to come!  Here are some quick photos that were taken at the game last week.  Enjoy!

Favor Pops

I wanted to share an idea for fun party favors. These are yummy, relatively simple and can be created to fit any theme! I found the idea online so I can't take total credit for it, but maybe this will inspire someone who is looking for just the right favor :)

Here is what you need:

6 cups Rice Krispy cereal
1 bag mini marshmallows
1/4 cup butter
cookie cutter to match theme
frosting to decorate
cookie sticks
cello bags
ribbon & tags

Here are the instructions:

1. Make Rice Krispy mix like usual:
Melt butter, add marshmallows until combined. Take off heat and slowly add cereal. Line work area with wax/parchment paper.

2. Coat the inside of your cutter with non stick spray. This is very important. Immediately begin spooning krispy mixture into the cookie cutter one by one. Pack the mix down as you go. Keep in mind that depending on what size/shape cutter you choose to use, you should be able to make 10-15 favor pops!

3.  Approximately 15 minutes later, carefully insert cookie sticks.

4. You are ready to decorate!  I typically flip the treats upside down and decorate the most flat side.  Use frosting to create your masterpieces!  Let them dry for several hours, even overnight.

5. Wrap in cello bags, tie with matching ribbon and add a message tag if you wish :)

Lil Quarterback party

On Saturday evening we hosted a family party to celebrate Owen's first birthday.  A few months ago we found a "Lil Quarterback 01" theme online and we have been planning ever since!  Owen had a great time and is certainly a lucky little guy to have so many generous and supportive family members :)

My littlest pumpkin

Emma's preschool (church) has a pumpkin patch so after we dropped her off this morning Owen edured half an hour of his mama and the camera.  One can never have too many pumpkin pictures.  Here are some of my favorites.  Enjoy!!

12 month Check up

At his check up today Owen weighed 20 lbs 15 oz (25th percentile), measured 29.3 inches long (30th perc.) and his noggin is still in the top 95th perc (all brains)!

He loves Dr. Flippin and is always a good boy at her office!

"Mama....I'm almost ready to learn my ABC's....."

He received four shots including chicken pox and measels immunizations and his first flu shot. He handled the first two like a grown man but the last two got to him :( Shots never get easier for mamas. Evidently he is not a fan of Sesame Street band aids because after the nurse replaced them twice we decided enough was enough.

Happy 1st Birthday to Owen!!!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY OWEN!!

He started his special day off with a cinnamon roll and a kiss from his favorite big sis :)

After visiting with Aunt Mary in Waco we headed to the mall.  He played in the kids' area like a big boy!!  His favorite thing was letting his sister knock him down each time she went down the slide.  Go figure :)

After dinner Owen opened a few gifts.  He received a Little People farm, plastic balls, John Deere boots, a giant red bouncy ball and an autographed football from the varsity Yoemen team.

Emma said that she had to help him open gifts because he had never had a birthday before :)

Owen got his first taste of cupcake...yum!

Dear Owen,

You are ONE today!! What a year it has been. You are truly a blessing to our family!  It has been amazing to watch you transform from a tiny infant into a sweet little boy!

You are such a happy little guy but can be oh so serious. You still don’t sleep all the way through the night but that’s okay, I love our midnight cuddles. You love to wiggle and you won’t sit still for very long at all. You still only have your two bottom teeth and love to show them off to anyone and everyone! You are curious and spunky! You are 100% boy and enjoy getting dirty and discovering mischief! You almost always have bumps and bruises and I’m certain that won’t change for awhile!

You love when Daddy comes home but as soon as something makes you mad you want Mama. In fact, you say “Da da da” as soon as you see his truck pull in the driveway but you only say “Ma ma ma” when you are grumpy, hungry or tired. Your first real word was dog (“dah”). You climb on Roxie and pull her tail but she loves you so much that she puts up with it. Most of all, you adore your big sister. You even try to push her bedroom door open each morning before it is time for her to wake up! You laugh out loud at Emma and forgive her, even when she sits on you. After all, what are big sisters for?! To date you are a speed crawler and after standing for a few seconds alone you always clap for yourself! It won’t be long before you take your very first step.

You have started pointing at whatever you want. You wave at the appropriate times and even initiated Peek a Boo this week. You can find and point at the light (which was also one of your first words). You love to climb stairs and other large objects. You are a fan of balls and balloons of all kinds. You hate green beans but would eat pasta for three meals a day if we let you. You also consumed an entire small McDonald’s hamburger by yourself! You hate to sit down in the bath tub. You would rather stand and check out the running water.

I am so proud of you and look forward to what this next year has in store!  You are a joy and I love you more than you will ever know!

Love,
"Mama"

Yoe toes

On Saturday afternoon the girls snuck out of the house to enjoy some pampering!  While I got a pedicure Emma got her finger nails and toe nails painted.  She had TONS of colors to choose from but insisted on getting marron & white for the Yoemen.  She even ran up to Jack (the QB) last night at the Fall festival, kicked off her shoes and showed him :)

Our Pumpkins

Yesterday after church the kids and I enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at Silo tree farm with some good friends.  Our first time there was last year and we were so excited to return :)  Not only do they grow their own Christmas trees and pumpkins, but they offer a variety of fun activities for families!  A couple of my favorite parts of the place are the photo opportunities and beautiful pumpkins favailable or purchase :)

All week Emma talked about how excited she was to ride the ponies again.  She has a good memory!  Her cute friends Ava & Corbin are riding in the background.

The petting/feeding zoo was great.  There were goats, sheep and even a llama.

This lil guy loves animals!!!  This one was just his size :)

Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins!

Did I mention I LOVE this month??
