Hudson at 20 months

Hudson is twenty months!  He weighs just over 23 pounds and wears mostly size 18 month outfits.  I suspect he has had a recent growth spurt because of the way he is fitting differently into his stander and high chair.  He is still working on that 15th tooth!  Huddy has been so cooperative with me as we have taken multiple pumpkin photos this season :)  This one was taken at the Magnolia Market silos and is probably my favorite!  Don't worry - he was rewarded with a cupcake!

He has progressively started traveling greater distances by army crawling.  He starts out in a seated tripod position and within minutes maneuvers onto his tummy, several feet away facing the opposite direction :)  He is becoming more comfortable with getting where he wants to be.

He loves to mimic our tongue clicks and sounds.  He intently studies what we do and then does it himself!

 Oh how he loves the outdoors!  Now that the temperatures have {finally!} cooled off a bit we are able to spend some time at the park.  He really enjoys swinging!

He has now gone down to just one nap per day - usually early afternoon.  He also sleeps pretty well at night - he often wakes up once.

 His two least favorite things right now are hearing a dog bark and being handed over the door at the church nursery.  Both really upset him and produce big ole tears :(  We have found that if we actually go in, place him on the floor and interest him in playing he is totally fine!  He enjoys seeing other babies his size and squeals in delight!

He is still a great eater!  The only thing we have found that he is not fond of is lettuce {it's probably a texture thing}!

I hot glued magnetic strips to the back of these wooden items.  He enjoys playing with them while tall enough in his stander and I'm hoping this will encourage some vocabulary and word association.

Breakfast with Santa

The kiddos and I met Lita, Aunt Natalie and Tessa for Breakfast with Santa at the annual Deck the Halls event.  It seemed a bit early to wear festive holiday clothes and the weather was still warm but we had a wonderful time :)  We even enjoyed pancakes with whipped cream & sprinkles!

Emma's outfit matched perfectly so of course we had to snap some photos!

Sibling photo with Santa!

Our super sweet girl {the others won't pose and smile on command - which is why I have so many of her!}

Merry {early!} Christmas from the Smiths :)

Owen is seven

Our Owen just turned seven!!  He is the comic relief in our world, is as curious as can be and is very passionate about the world around him.  He now weighs 55 lbs and stands 4'1" tall {both in the 75th percentile}.  He wears size 6/7 clothes and size 2 shoes.

At bedtime the night before his birthday I asked if he would consider staying six just another year.  Of course he refused and was ready for year lucky number seven!

We celebrated all week long!!  :)

He is enjoying all the adventures of first grade.  His reading level is advanced and his handwriting is improving.  I always enjoy seeing the work he brings home because it is always very creative and unpredictable!  He participates in speech therapy once a week at school.  He enjoys playing golf, flag football and baseball.  He is very competitive, athletically gifted and is truly so much fun to watch on the field!

He loves the great outdoors and caught his first fish this Summer in West Texas!  He also enjoys puppet ministry, Awanas and Children's choir at church.

The Robinson Familly Farm

Last weekend the kids and I enjoyed an afternoon at The Robinson Family Farm near Temple!

Our littlest pumpkin had so much fun experiencing the farm by wagon.  He was such a good sport for every photo opportunity {his older siblings weren't quite as smiley!}

The kids enjoyed a variety of fun activities including a giant see-saw, slide, hayride, tractor cars, pumpkin sand art, pumpkin sling shot, duck races and a petting zoo.

The pumpkin patch is one of my favorite activities of the Fall and I look forward to it every year!

Rub a dub dub...

...it's Hudson in a tub!! :)

Bath time is one of his favorite times of day!  He enjoys splashing, playing with cups and reaching his hand under the faucet to catch the water.

He is always happy to be scooped up and snuggled in a towel.

Hudson at 19 months

 Hudson is 19 months!  He now weighs 23 pounds and measures 27" long.  His 15th tooth is coming in and he wears all size 18 month outfits.  He is looking less like a baby and more like a toddler by the day {sniff sniff}!

In the past couple of weeks he has made HUGE progress in mobility and motivation.  He has started the beginning stages of army crawling which has allowed him more independence and ability to explore his world.  We are now able to place him on the floor and watch him "ooch" around from one toy to another.  Instead of being interested in baby toys he is more motivated to move toward iphones, plants, balloons and books :)

On 9/23 he waved "bye bye" with his left hand when a cashier did it to him.  He hasn't done it since but he definitely did it then :)  He has really started to grasp the concepts of push/pull.  Instead of rolling himself in his Bumbo wheelchair he will grab on to something and pull himself toward it.  Smart little stinker!

We took the month of September off of PT for insurance reasons but Jaylon stopped by one day to attach kinesiology tape to Hudson's back and tummy.  Its purpose is to strengthen his core and help with balance.  It is very stretchy and lasts approximately five days before needing to be replaced.  The first day he seemed agitated by it but after that didn't seem to care.  We have noticed a small difference in his ability to sit up straight on the floor and in the high chair specifically.

Recently he tried a pop tart and pickle and loved both!  He wants some of anything we are eating and never seems full!

His siblings enjoy reading to him.  He is a great listener but would really like to rip the pages!  In fact, he has managed to rip a few over the last couple of weeks (oops!)

He sleeps around ten hours each night but still wakes up 1-2 times.  He usually takes a short nap in the mornings and then sometimes another short nap in the afternoons.  On 10/5 he fell out of bed for he first time by pinwheeling his torso around and then flipping over from his tummy.

He really enjoys exploring his legs and feet.  If his shoes are not on he removes his socks every time and gets upset when we put them back on!  He likes to examine our mouths and will often mimic our facial expressions.  He likes to lean forward in the stroller to touch things while we shop.

 Hudsy is such a joy.  Our littlest pumpkin :)
