Student Art Show

As I have mentioned before, the kids enjoyed their own separate art classes this Spring in Huntsville.  Emma loved the Masterpiece in one class for kids.  At each class she was able to complete an entire canvas project to bring home.  Owen and I have one more week of Mommy & Me class.  He has enjoyed exploring with oil pastels, water color paint and more!  This evening we attended the student art show and some of their finished products were proudly displayed!

I'm sure proud of my two aspiring artists :)

Bluebonnets 2013

For several weeks now I have been meaning to take the kids' annual bluebonnet pictures.  I'm lucky they stuck around so long!  I bribed the kids with Olive Garden and treats from the Target dollar section.  Enjoy!!    :)

I can totally hear her laugh in this pic....

Emma's pose idea :)

Emma the artist

Emma is extremely creative and artistic.  She always has been and it is simply part of who she is!  She loves to keep busy with new ideas and projects!  When I heard about an art class offered for her age at The Wynne Home in Huntsville I just knew it would be right up her alley!  She enjoyed it and created a beautiful masterpiece! She is already looking forward to attending again next week :)

An East Texas Easter

Owen sure loves his Resurrection Eggs!  For weeks leading up to Easter he wanted to do them, usually several times each day!  I'm so glad that he is eager to learn and share about Jesus.  I'm also thankful that he understands the real importance of Easter :)  He especially loved to skip to the very last (white) egg.  Of course it is empty resembling the tomb.  Owen always smiles big and says "There's nothing here.  Jesus is alive"!  Our children's church leader says he raises his hand in response to questions and his answer is always "Jesus died on the cross for our sins!"

We started Easter weekend with a day full of parties!!  The kids both enjoyed egg hunts and special treats at their schools.

My special "somebunnies" :)

Easter morning their baskets were filled with fun!

We weren't able to travel back to central Texas so soon after Spring Break but we really enjoyed and appreciated a visit from Big Daddy & Lita :)

Headed to church!!

:)

My handsome guys in pink :)

After a quick Spring shower the kiddos enjoyed a fun egg hunt!

Hooray for a Spider man egg!

"He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart."

HLSR

We wrapped up a fun week of Spring Break with a trip to the annual Houston Livestock Fair and Rodeo.  We have enjoyed living so close to Houston and it was just a quick trip down south bound I45.  We enjoyed playing games at the midway...

{Check out this competitive girl's game face!!}

We visited the livestock (even the nursery area where there were sweet animal babies just days old!)

These brave three tried out the 'Goliath Slide'!  They loved it!

{Owen had a grin on his face and both hands in the air most of the way down!}

A hug for 'Ms Moo' (little brother wasn't a fan)

Emma had her mind set on doing this mechanical bull ride!  She did a great job and never fell off!

This corageous girl is always up for a new adventure!  Her favorite thing of the day was this giant swing!  She barely met the height requirement with her big hair bow :)

There were only a hand full of rides that both kids were tall enough to ride together:

My handsome fair date :)  He even found me a yummy funnel cake!

The weather was gorgeous and fun was had by all!

Owen Lingo

We are happy to report that Owen continues to make strides in his speech!  Last month we visited with the speech therapist for our school district.  She had him identify a series of image flashcards.  He knocked the socks off of everyone in the room by correctly identifying 99% of them!!  As I have known all along, his vocabulary is huge.  His new words impress me on a daily basis.  The therapist agreed that his pronunciation is lacking a bit but assured me that he is on track.  He especially needs to continue working on the sounds F, S and L.  I love that he is talking more now and I adore the way he says things.  We often say that he has his own language and his sister is his best interpreter.  Because I don't want to forget, here is a list of his newest and most used sweet words:

"carswul" - careful ("I be carswul!" when he is doing something that he usually needs help with!)

"nuhswing" - nothing

"naush" - fish (he loves fish tanks!)

"One, boo, sree, por, pibe, sees, sesen, eight, nigh, teen, elesen, twell" - counting

"Tinkle, tinkle leetle tar" - Twinkle, twinkle little star

"Deezuz lubs me dis I know" - Jesus loves me this I know :)

"boobaya" - banana (He says "Monkeys eat boobayas and monkey bread!")

"Gotch my bows" - I'd like to watch my TV shows (not yours, not hers, MINE!!  Typically referring to Jack & the Neverland Pirates or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse)

"I just keedin" - I'm just kidding! (such a comedian already!)

"yeemon" - lemon (he often sneaks the lemon juice out of the fridge for a snack ~ so silly!)

"yike" - like ("I don't yike to eat")

"kicken" - chicken (We see chickens in a nearby yard while in the pick up line for sister!)

"wees" - with (I go wees you!)

"curn" - turn (It's my curn to play Wii!)

"gown" - down ("Lay gown in you yap, mama!" Still oh so cuddly)

"Pea sha" - Pediasure (his favorite treat!)

"fweeze" - please

"boojahmies" - pajamas

"tidered" - tired ("I not tidered" at bedtime)

"yungry" - hungry ("I not yungry" at almost every meal)
