Four and a half

Today Emma is officially four and a half years old.  That's 54 months to be exact!  She has been claiming to be "almost five" for quite some time now anyway :)  She is approx 3' 6" and weighs 46 pounds.  She wears mostly size 5T and size 11 shoe.

Emma has a heart bigger than the size of Texas!  She especially loves animals and babies and is a wonderful friend to all.  She has a Type A personality, is extremely competitive and has the most cute and contagious laugh!

Have I mentioned that she is the BEST big sister??  She acts like Owen's second mama and enjoys teaching him new things every day.

She loves to dance, sing, keep busy and act silly!   She is a great eater and sleeper.

She often tests her boundaries and gives lots of sass, attitude and eye rolling.... mostly to her mom.  Where does she learn this stuff?!

She likes going to any restaurant with a play area, Barbies, babydolls and playing outside.  She dislikes bedtime, cleaning up, finishing her milk and being quiet.

Current favorites:

Food : tortillas
Color: pink
Song: 'Who Said' by Selena Gomez
TV show: Phineas and Ferb
Movie: Up
Thing to do: sing songs and go to church

Golden locks

This evening Owen had his second hair cut.  This week we noticed that the baby mullet was reappearing!  He also had a few hairs starting to stick out which reminded us of Dennis the Menace (and his spunky personality is very much the same)!

Owen sat still and was such a good boy for his daddy barber.

It certainly didn't hurt that Sissy was shoveling DQ blizzard bites in his mouth :)

We left the top part alone because it is at the perfect length!  What a handsome little guy :)

Galavanting in Galveston

During our stay in Galveston we enjoyed a few adventures on the town.  The strand has lots of great boutiques and eateries.

Three generations at the connfectionery:

We also visited the newly enhanced rainforest pyramid at Moody Gardens.  The plants and animals were amazing.  Emma even got to see her first 4D (Dora in the rainforest) movie!

Our last night on the island Jarrod and I went on a date :)  It had been too long and we really enjoyed our adult conversation.  We saw a movie and then enjoyed dinner at our fav, Fishermans Wharf.  We sat on the patio overlooking the ocean!

On our way out of town we took these last two photos.  The giant seawall statue is a memorial to the 1900 hurricane, the largest natural disaster in US history.

Sand, Sun and Seaweed

We had a great time in Galveston this week.  This was our fourth year at this beach house.  It is especially nice to be walking distance from the ocean with two little ones!

Owen wasn't wild about the beach this year.  He would play and run around for a few short minutes and then he was done.  He would point and attempt to pull someone toward the house when he was ready to go!

This was Emma's fifth trip to the beach.  She is definitely a fan of the sun, sand and water but NOT the seaweed that was in abundance this year!

Final Game

This morning Emma played her final Pre T ball game.  She was the cutest player on the field :)  She looks forward to being on a "big girl" team next year...

Coach Smith is ready to hang up his whistle for awhile....well, for at least a couple of years anyway ;)

The Giants had a great season!!  What a sweet bunch :)  Each player improved and became much more comfotable with the game as time progressed.

We are so thankful for such supportive and involved grandparents.  Emma is a lucky little girl :)

Splash Pad

The Summer temps are here to stay for awhile.  This week we took our first trip to the splash pad in Temple for the year!  Owen is the perfect age for it and would barely stand still long enough for me to apply sunscreen :)

Emma was a little reluctant at first because the water was FREEZING!  It didn't take her long to start having fun!

What a great solution to a hot day :)  I'm sure we will make frequent trips here over the next few months.

Precious Cargo

We have been enjoying sunny afternoons outside.  The kids love the gator and today tried a new way to ride :)
